A Little Bit of…Nothing?June 25, 2019

First off, I have to say my house and cat still stink of skunk! Not so bad now, but the smell is still there. Especially wherever my cat is. But what can I do but deal with it?

I’ve got two box fans going, one in a window at one end of the house pulling air in, the other at the other end of the house pushing air out. I’ve got ceiling fans going and have been spraying air freshener and burning incense. Helps, but the smell still lingers. Whenever the cat lets me, I rub baking soda into his fur.

He’s been hiding a lot…doesn’t want me messing with him!

In these pictures, he’s underneath the guest bed.

I figured, at this point, I’d give a little detail about the tree that just missed the deck. I know I’ve got more photos on my external hard drive…but this is what I’ve got for now.

I was inside working on the family tree when I heard this long, loud crack and then a crash. I knew it was a tree – or part of one – that had come down. I looked out the window and saw the tree laying on the ground!

“No, no, no!”

My dad was in the kitchen and heard me saying those words…”no, no, no!” He asked what was wrong. “A tree just came down, or part of it!”

A straight wind had just come through and took out part of the tree. Luckily, no one was outside and it missed the house…just barely!

It took us some time, but we eventually got it cut down and dragged off! I had to use the pruning sheers to cut back what I could, to make it safer for my dad to use the chain saw. (He was legally blind!)

That’s my dad, checking out the tree. We haven’t done anything with what’s left. Unless we take the whole tree down, or pay someone, there’s nothing we can do.

So, there it stands…a tribute to the straight wind that tried to take it out!

A photo I took this weekend

That’s about all I have, for now anyway! Hope everyone has a great day! Keep smiling!!
