Carefree Saturday 16 (1)

Gardening, insects and trimming trees

August 25, 2019

This is going to be a two part series, I took way too many pictures! I normally don’t post more than 5 or 6 photos at a time…and I’ve got 13 here! It’s cool enough right now that I can get into my gardens and do some much needed weeding. And I took pictures along the way of things I found, or bugs that stopped by to say hello!!

I stick my tongue out at you!

This little guy flew into the garden and hung out long enough for me to get his picture!

I learned a while ago to take my camera with me, even if just working in the garden! I picked up a clump of grass and there was a snake!! Of course, my camera was in the house! I ran inside, grabbed the camera and hoped the snake was still there. It was!! It was just a little gray rat snake…but it was only feet from me! And I’d been chopping up the ground with the shovel, to make it easier to get the grass and weeds out! I’m actually surprised I didn’t cut him in half!

A piece of snake skin!

Talking about snakes…I found this in the same garden where I found the gray rat snake. It’s just a little thing!! No snakes yesterday, just snake skin.

A succulent

In this garden, from front to back, is lemon thyme, (rocks!) iris and grape expectations, and black eyed susans, the grape arbor and then a crepe myrtle, There’s actually more, but you can’t see it. When I was working on the iris section, I found some strawberry plants I need to transplant. I used to have strawberries there, but I moved them to a spot where they get more sun.

scorpion wasp

I’ve never seen a scorpion wasp in person before! And never on my property! It was a treat to see…even though I know they can sting and I’m sure it doesn’t feel good when they do.

Butterfly on my tire
Fly to me, pretty butterfly!
Umm…hope no one needs to go anywhere!

After I finished gardening, I helped my boyfriend trim some trees back! I was done gardening and helping him before 11am. I also got in the pool and cleaned it, as much as I didn’t want to because it is so cool right now. But I had to and it got done! It won’t be too long now before we close the pool up for the winter (maybe two weeks, give or take).

So, the next post will be images of trimming the trees back. I should be able to post them tomorrow!

Hope you enjoyed your Saturday!

“My Saturday was going pretty well until I realized it was Sunday!” – unknown

Hope you have a great day where ever you may be!

Today is National Banana Split Day and National Secondhand Wardrobe Day! I can live with that!

Thanks for visiting!

(On a side note, I’ll be posting “SUNDAY’S” post this afternoon… I need to start getting ready for work and my computer is being really slow this morning! I think it’s time for me to put some photos on the external hard drive! Have fun what ever you do!)
