Carefree Saturday 18

Sept. 8, 2019

I started the day by working in the garden. One of my gardens, anyway! I have to tell you, I did this by myself!! My boyfriend was working and my son was sleeping! I started tearing it apart and cleaning it out in 2016, before my dad went into hospice care. The top “step” was where I stopped!

It feels good to have this much completed! Now it’s just about ready for flowers, but I don’t think I’ll plant any til spring. Need to make sure I have as much of the root systems out! I’m not sure what I will plant anyway. Needs to be something that will help keep the weeds – especially the grass – under control.

I have to tell you, it’s no easy task putting a wall like this together. I didn’t use any concrete…my dad did years ago. Anyway, it’s like putting a jigsaw puzzle together…only harder. Some of those stones were heavy! Not too heavy, but heavy enough. I could’ve used the mower and the trailer, but I didn’t feel like messing with it. It was just as easy to carry the stones to the garden (I had piled them up at the edge of the woods near the bottom of the hill).

When I was taking a break, I found this daddy long leg.

After I had finished the garden (until next week), I was sitting on the deck contemplating if I really wanted to tackle the “other” room and along came this little praying mantis.

So, I did tackle the room. I’m thinking that I’m going to turn into a studio of sorts. It needs to be repainted and a rug put down, to help protect the new carpet. My cats liter box is in this room…and considering it is brand new carpet, I want to help keep it clean by putting the rug down.

All of the paintings you see on the walls, are my grandmothers. I’ve been trying to sell them online without any luck. I know what my next option is, but my boyfriend doesn’t like the idea…have an art sale! We shall see.

Kalimba investigates!

So, everything that was in the “other” room, is now piled up in the quest room. It’s ok! It won’t stay like that for very long. Maybe by next Saturday, I’ll have the room put back together!

enjoying the sunshine!

So, that was my Saturday! Nothing really special, but it feels good to have accomplished what I did!

  1. Nice to see other’s gardening and landscaping environments. Your grandmother did some really nice stuff. If you have an art sale, save at least your favorite one for yourself. Peace.
