I know I missed my early afternoon post…I hope this makes up for it! My boyfriend have been busy all day. Mostly, anyway!
You may remember that I used to do a Carefree Saturday post, and I quit doing them when I quit my job. If you don’t know or remember, here’s a quick low down…I used to work as a caregiver and my days off were Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It was a high stress job, especially when I was working full time. So, back in the spring or early summer I decided that Saturdays were going to be “carefree” meaning that it was not a day to do laundry, go shopping, it was going to be a day to take care of myself.
So, this post on Saturday might replace my “carefree Saturday” posts. We shall see. All of the photos were taken today and were taken on my cell phone! Some, I may touch up in Photoshop, but they’re fine for now. Maybe I’ll do a before and after with them.
Virginia is to the left, West Virginia to the right. Maryland is to the right and behind you (the viewer). I’ll be doing more about Harper’s Ferry – not today. Harper’s Ferry is a historical town with Civil War history, it’s history dating back to 1733. George Washington established an armory and arsenal in Harper’s Ferry in 1794.
My boyfriend and I sometimes go to West Virginia once in a while to do some shopping. Today was one of those days! There’s a really nice Aldi (a discount grocery store), and WalMart, but I prefer to shop at the WalMart closer to home. The prices are better.
After shopping in West Virginia, we finished up shopping in Frederick.
After a short break and some lunch, we moved some furniture and brought two rugs up from the basement. My boyfriend came here with a dining room table of his own. He was originally going to give it to his son, but his son said he didn’t want it. It is made of teak, so we couldn’t just get rid of it. He also brought three area rugs and two throw rugs with him.
I have an antique claw foot oak table. Can’t get rid of it! So, what do we do? We switch them out twice a year. Sounds like a lot of work, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
As you may be aware, I have hardwood floors throughout the main part of the house. So…in the spring, the area rugs go downstairs along with my dining room table. In the fall, the area rugs come upstairs as well as his table.
Luckily, we have the space in the basement to put these things!
Yeah, I’ve got two really old tool boxes! Some day, when I figure out where to put them, I will show you some of the really old tools.
I have a table cloth over the table to help protect it. Being in the basement, in the work shop area, it needs it.
So, that was my Saturday and why I am late posting!
