boats on the creek

Sailing Through the Winter Solstice

The other week, when my son and I went down to the library, it was a nice day, so we decided to take a walk along the creek. We had no idea there were boats on the creek!

Here are a few of the pics I took November 26, 2019.

  • a fundraising opportunity for Friends of Carroll Creek Urban Park
  • the primary purpose is to provide some light and joy along the creek during the dark winter months, after the beauty of the water garden has faded
  • stay on the creek for ten weeks
Snallygaster has landed!

There is a local legend about the Snallygaster. It is a monster that snatches up children and makes things disappear. (I was going to link to that post, but I can’t find it so there’s a pretty good chance I’ll have to redo it.) The story goes all the way back to pre-colonial times.

I love the reflections these boats cast on the creek. Sometime, I’ll have to take a trip at night down to the creek so I can get pics of them all lit up!

Just a fun fact:

  • The Joseph Dill Baker carillon in Frederick’s Baker Park is the largest musical instrument in Maryland.

Hope you have a great day!

Thanks for stopping by!!
