Tomorrow is Falling Needles Family Fest Day, National Bicarbonate of Soda Day and Bacon Day.
Falling Needles Family Fest Day: serves as a reminder to clean up and recycle the live Christmas tree.
Every state offers recycling options, many with pick up.
You can mulch the tree for bedding around your home or donate it to mulching programs.
You can provide shelter to birds and other critters during the winter months. You can also use the tree as a place to hang treats to feed them. The tree will need some anchoring. When winter is over, you can still use the tree for other recycling needs.
After your tree provided shelter to the birds, it can also offer shelter to the fish, too. In ponds and lakes, trees are used to create protection for spawning and feeding.
Your tree should never be burned in a wood stove or fireplace indoors due to the type of oils in fir and evergreen trees. The tree may however, be chopped and used in the fire pit outdoors.
Depending on where you live, Christmas trees may be used as soil erosion barriers for lakes, rivers, and dunes.
Save a tree and buy an artificial one! They last for years, don’t need to be watered and they don’t dry out. They can be repurposed, donated to charity if still in good shape, and if take apart can be recycled in some areas.

Your pictures are so beautiful! That is such great advice with the Christmas trees. We have a rehabilitation animal center near me and they asked for Christmas Trees. One store dropped off 50 trees that they did not sell. What a waste other than the fact they will serve as a home for the critters! We have about 25 evergreen trees we planted in our yard. We cut one down when it was Christmas Tree size. I proudly placed our new angel on top and decorated the tree. About 2 days later there was all these black spots all over the ceiling by the tree and in the new angel. A huge spiders nest had hatched from the warmth of our house. My angel was ruined and that was the last year of a real tree! Hahaha
Thank you!
Yeah, bugs can be a problem with real trees! We haven’t used a real tree since I was a little girl. My dad would cut a tree from our neighbors property with permission to help thin them out. I’m sure when we were done with it, it went back to the earth…somehow, someway!

If we are to have another contest of our national existence, I predict that the dividing line will not be Mason's and Dixon's, but between Patriotism and intelligence on one side, and superstition, ambition, and ignorance on the other." ~ Ulysses S. Grant

Psalm 23 (KJV) The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Be thankful for the thorns and thistles which keep you from being in love with this world. ~ Charles Spurgeon
