the wolf den

Before I delve into the meat of this, I have to let you know that it is supposed to snow tomorrow…which means I’ve been busy getting wood in the house and up on the deck. My boyfriend brought a load of wood home last night, so we needed to get that off the truck and onto the deck! It smells oh so good! White oak…great for the stove! He also had a bunch of kindling…

And I have to tell you, this went way farther and deeper than I intended it to. It does have religious and spiritual meaning… which isn’t a problem, just letting you know.

Ever since I was in high school, I have been dreaming about wolves (and dogs, but mostly wolves) . . . not really dreaming about them, they come to me in my dreams. I had a dream right after my sisters cat – Marky Mark – died. In the dream I was beating it with a broom. A wolf appeared in the doorway, growling at me with barred teeth and all. Yeah, totally not me, but it was a dream and subconsciously, I was mad at the cat. When I saw the wolf, I put the broom down and walked away. The wolf came to me, telling me that it wasn’t the cats fault! It’s not the only dream I’ve had about wolves… one other dream, I was at school (Shepherd University) walking…a wolf came up and walked right alongside me, letting me pet it and rubbing up on me. It stayed by my side throughout the whole dream, everywhere I went – it was there by my side. Until someone walked in the room, it got up and growled and we left. This meant that I was in a good place, until that person came into the room… I don’t recall who the person was but judging by the wolf’s reaction, I knew this person wasn’t good for me.

There’s been a few times a wolf has appeared in my dreams…

In Native American lore – and other lore as well, this means that the wolf is my spirit guide, or the main spirit guide anyway, as I have had dreams about other animals and I will tell you about it at a time.

The wolf is my main spirit guide, if you will. An animal appearing in a dream is a way of giving you guidance… if you are willing to look for the meaning. This is much like the hawk I wrote about a couple days ago. But different, this is a dream, not actually seeing the animal in real life. Dreaming about an animal and seeing one in real life are two different things.

Dreaming about an animal is like a sign from your subconscious, trying to get you to pay attention. For example, the laughing dog I saw in my dream a couple weeks ago… it is a sign of harmony and domestic bliss, my true self is being revealed. Any time you dream about an animal, you should pay attention…

Seeing an animal in real life is, they say, a sign from the universe (seeing a hawk means the universe wants you to learn powerful lessons) or angels are near (seeing a cardinal means a loved one is near and is watching over you).

The wolf symbolizes a high level of intelligence, guardianship, loyalty, freedom, and a deep connection and trust in your instincts, listening to your gut feeling.

The wolf often appears to guide your journey in self discovery… so, although I may struggle, I know I’m on the right path. The path that is right for me.

Do you have a spirit guide? Do you believe in them?

Welcome
all nature lovers

wolf den
a pack always has a howling good time
  • throw me to the wolves, I’ll return leading the pack
  • the hardest walk you can make is the walk you walk alone,
but that is the walk that makes you the strongest
  • wolves don’t lose sleep

I Am Wolf

Quietly I will endure

Silently I will suffer

Patiently I will wait

For I am a warrior

And I will survive

“There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls.” ~ George Carlin

I am a wolf
It’s in my nature to be kind, gentle, and caring. But know this,
when it comes to protecting my friends, family, and heart
Do not trifle with me.
~ unknown ~

Because I am the most powerful and relentless creature you will ever know.

Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is – German proverb

“In the calm, deep waters of the mind, the wolf waits.” ~ McKinstry

In the Bible…

Isaiah 65:25 ESV: (English Standard Version) “The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,” says the Lord.”

Matthew 7: 15-20 ESV: “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves…”

I know what the Bible says and I believe it to be true, but I also know what I feel in my heart and gut… I’m not a wolf in sheep’s clothing, if you will. I am a human being who has learned a lot of lessons in life, one of which is to trust my gut, my instincts, my inner spirit… I have to be true to myself, but also know what I believe to be true… and I will do anything to protect my family and those I love!

  1. The wolf is an amazing animal. If I have a spirit animal it would be the perigrine falcon; a stealthy, quick, and highly focused on its goal. I’ve seen them up close a few times, one landed about a yard away from me on a railing next to a river walk.

    • That’s really cool! Falcons are awesome creatures as well, I’ve never had one that close to me. Not in the wild anyway!
      Thanks for commenting and sharing!☺

      • Anytime! 🙂
The falcon has made a comeback here along the central California coast, and once I saw one over the hill in east San Jose.

  2. Wolves are the ancestors of dogs which is good enough for me!

Me? The dolphin spirit animal represents harmony and balance. Dolphins are both highly intelligent and closely in tune with their instincts, striking a balance between the two states. Dolphins are also a symbol of protection and of resurrection. Their playful nature is a reminder that everyone needs to approach life with humor and joy. People who identify with the dolphin totem are usually peaceful and gentle, but with a deep inner strength.

    Dolphin Symbolism
The dolphin is a complex animal and has had many different meanings attached to it throughout history, including:

    Peace and harmony
    Protection
    Playfulness and joy
    Resurrection
    Inner Strength
    Cooperation

But the above, sure, Is Not Me!
