camping – 2011

March 25, 2020

First things first… It took me forever to get this to where I could show it to you! I’ve pretty much been working on it since my first post this morning – and I’m starving! And am suffering from an eye migraine ( An ocular migraine is a rare condition characterized by temporary vision loss or even temporary blindness in one eye. Ocular migraines are caused by reduced blood flow or spasms of blood vessels in the retina or behind the eye.)

So…I hope you enjoy! I’ve linked to you tube videos…you’ll see! The music is all over the place… but nothing “bad”, depending on your likes. Country, classic country, classical, humor…

It’s been a while since I shared any memories from days gone by…so here are some from our camping trip in 2011. For quite a few years we went camping in Schellsburg, PA, a tiny town with a state park called Shawnee State Park. You will be seeing more photos, hopefully in the near future.

We saw this buffalo herd while out “sightseeing”…

Ya can’t roller skate in a buffalo herd
But you can be happy if you’ve a mind to
~ Roger Miller
“Let me tell you about the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
And the moon up above
And a thing called “Love””
~ Jewel Akens

The Old Bedford Village, Bedford, Pennsylvania…

we were told that this cat my son is petting doesn’t like people and if you got to close, he would attack…they were amazed that he let us get so close. (Usually he would run away first…I guess he didn’t feel we were a threat.)
“Crazy cat peekin’ through a lace bandanna
Like a one-eyed cheshire, like a diamond-eye jack
A leaf of all colors plays a golden-string fiddle
To a double-e waterfall over my back”
China Cat Sunflower
Grateful Dead

someone’s been bad…now, where are those rotten tomatoes?

just kidding! Dakota is my son – you know him better as “Son of a Leprechaun”. Just, please, don’t tell him that I gave you his real name… 🙂

There was an Old West event going on, which is why we went. But, we didn’t see too much action…a bank was robbed and a stage coach went barreling through the streets. Other than that, we got to see how life was back in the day!

“Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day”
Home on the Range
~ Gene Autry
in the jail house now…

It’s good to touch
the green, green grass of home
~ Tom Jones
time for bed…
Lullaby and goodnight, with roses bedight
With lilies o’er spread is baby’s wee bed
Lay thee down now and rest, may thy slumber be blessed
Lay thee down now and rest, may thy slumber be blessed
Lullaby and goodnight, thy mother’s delight
Bright angels beside my darling abide
They will guard thee at rest, thou shalt wake on my breast
They will guard thee at rest, thou shalt wake on my breast
~ Brahms Lullaby
written in 1868

The way we eat while camping…

dinner time

“It’s funny how it’s the little things in life that mean the most
Not where you live, what you drive or the price tag on your clothes
There’s no dollar sign on a peace of mind, this I’ve come to know
So if you agree have a drink with me
Raise your glasses for a toast
To a little bit of chicken fried”
Chicken Fried
~ Zac Brown Band
a good place to rest

“To lay me down, once more
to lay me down with my head in sparklin’ clover
to lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down”
TO LAY ME DOWN
~ Grateful Dead

Well, there’s more – so much more, but it’s time for me to go! Gotta get stuff done! I’m working on my dad’s story to share with you…this afternoon. I would normally share it with you now, but I’m just not ready!
Our world’s seem turned upside down, and as much as I am staying home and in self isolation, life does go on.

Hope you have a great day!
Thanks for stopping by!!

“Let go or be dragged.”
~ Zen Proverb

Take care
Stay safe
Much love

“Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence”
The Sound of Silence
Simon and Garfunkel
