my thoughts for today
I really hope the possible freeze and snow we get tonight doesn’t harm them… it is what it is, right? For this area, where I live it’s just a watch, further west it is a warning. That means that they are more likely to get a freeze/frost and maybe even snow.
Only one Iris is blooming right now, and one is popping open. We shall see.
All of the house plants that I have taken outside are up on the deck, ready to be covered. There’s about fifteen outside right now. I could bring them inside, but it’s only one night! If we were getting an extended cold snap, I probably would. I’m just glad I haven’t put more outside…it’s been so unusually cold that I haven’t chanced it.
It’s raining right now, and about 55 degrees (on the deck, which is where the sensor is). We haven’t seen any hummingbirds yet, they’re probably still well south of here. They usually appear in mid-April. But not this year. I’m hoping next week I will see one. Then I will get the feeders out.
Ruby Throated Hummingbirds spend the winter months in Mexico or northern Panama, according to my internet search. They come back every spring, and don’t leave until mid October or early November.
