All photos were taken recently, in my backyard…
Hope you enjoy!
“A snake knows more about what is happening around than any other creature, because it has no ears to listen to gossip only direct perception.” ~ Jaggi Vasudev
Yes, this black snake disappeared into my garden, then went under the deck. This is the same black snake that inspired this photo
I kept an eye on him, until he disappeared under the deck. Whenever I go outside, I’m always on the lookout for some creature lurking nearby! Especially since, most of the time, I am barefoot. Walking barefoot through the grass and dirt is good for you! There’s minerals and stuff that help you, but that is for another post!
“There are two means of refuge
from the miseries of life:
music and cats.”
~ Albert Schweitzer
Technically, wildlife…but wild in nature. They are my neighbors barn cats. And yes, I have named them. Not sure if my neighbor has, but that’s ok. She has so many over at the barn…
“A cat is a puzzle for which there is no solution.”
~ Hazel Nicholson
Not sure if you notice it, but there are two red “eyes” in the background. Looks like a monster lurking, waiting. Normally, I would have taken them out but I might use it at a later date. The red dots are dead, or hot pixels, and can be easily removed in PhotoShop or any other photo editing program. It can also be eliminated by turning on the long-exposure setting on the camera, which is different than the normal “noise reduction” setting. Doing this will eliminate any red or blue dots.
“How long is forever?
Sometimes, just one second.”
~ Alice in Wonderland
We’ve got a lot of bunnies and squirrels around here…
the snakes
and foxes
and catses
and hawks
and anything else that eats meat,
eat good!
“You can’t be suspicious of a tree
or accuse a bird
or a squirrel
of subversion
or challenge
the ideology
of a violet.”
~ Hal Borland
Not the best picture, I know. One of these days, I will get a better one. They are so illusive!
“No matter how long the winter
spring is sure to follow.”
~ English Proverb
Plenty of groundhogs too! Which need to be shot! They are troublesome for landowners, especially farmers. The other day, I walked out the front door – to the left, in my step garden was a groundhog, to my right, almost under my feet, a black snake. If only black snakes ate ground hogs!! Oh well. Maybe babies, which is doubtful.
He’s just playing possum
Happy!
Happy!
Happy!
Possum can be spelled one of two ways…possum or opossum. Either way is correct and describes the same critter.
If I had chickens, I’d be worried about having Mr. O. Possum around, but for now he’s ok. Haven’t seen him up on the deck lately either.
Can’t soar like eagles
if you’re surrounded by turkeys
~ unknown
We watched this guy strut around the yard for a while, my roommate even grabbing the rifle and his camo! But he disappeared before a shot could be fired. It was turkey season at the time.
And then there’s this guy!
Night Creature!
I know, technically he’s not wild, but he loves being out at night! Much more so than during the day.
hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!
