America: A Legend

November 6, 2020

With voices being subdued all over social media, I thought I’d share my thoughts here… these are just my thoughts, my feelings…I’ve been working on this all afternoon, so the story is playing out as I speak. Isn’t it always? Anyway, I begin with my thoughts/words, then there’s some patriotic/American song lyrics (partial) and then my opinion. It is a long read, at the moment 879 words! I didn’t share on twitter, so it stays here. We’ll see…

My thoughts for today
words by HCMorris

Old Glory in the winter

There was a time
when America was more than myth
where legends were born
dreams came true
the bell of liberty rang
where there was light in the darkness

a country church alongside a country road

There was a time
when America was free
where ideas were shared
where belief was not hidden
where protection was a right
where justice was maintained
where hard work paid off

Don’t Tread on Me

The was a time
when America was strong
where the brave never died
where voices were heard
where people were respected
where we had the right to believe
where values weren’t questioned

the American Flag with snowy background
land of the free

America
land of freedom
not a myth
~ HCMorris ~

a green ivy leaf and snow with there's still hope words
there’s still hope

Below are some song lyrics that remind me of the country that I love…

The Star Spangled Banner

O say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave

America

Simon and Garfunkel

I’ve gone to look for America

Toby Keith

American girls and American guys
We’ll always stand up and salute
We’ll always recognize
When we see Old Glory flying
There’s a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our head

This ain’t no rag, it’s a flag

Charlie Daniels

This ain’t no rag, it’s a flag
And we don’t wear it on our heads
It’s a symbol of the land where the good guys live
Are you listening to what I said
You’re a coward and a fool
And you broke all of the rules
And you wounded our American pride
And now we’re coming with a gun
And we know you’re gonna run
But you can’t find no place to hide
We’re gonna hunt you down like a mad dog hound
Make you pay for the lives you stole
We’re all through talking and a messing around
And now it’s time to rock and roll

American Saturday Night

Brad Paisley

You know everywhere has somethin’ they’re known for
Although usually it washes up on our shores
Little Italy, Chinatown, sittin’ there side by side
Live from New York, It’s Saturday Night!

It’s a French kiss, Italian ice,
Spanish moss in the moonlight
Just another American, just another American,
Its just another American Saturday night

Take me home, country roads

John Denver

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads

Long Haired Country Boy

Charlie Daniels

‘Cause I ain’t asking nobody for nothin’
If I cant get it on my own
If you don’t like the way I’m livin’
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone

American Pie

Don McLean

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin’ this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

Battle Hymn of the Republic

United States Marine Corps
(written by) Julia Ward Howe

Glory, glory, hallelujah (gloria)
Glory, glory, hallelujah (gloria, gloria)
Glory, glory, hallelujah (gloria)
His truth is marching on

America goes, so goes the world

I’m not just crying the blues…I survived under Obama, I can do the same now. I didn’t scream at the sky, burn and loot because I didn’t get my way. I didn’t kill anybody because they didn’t agree with my point of view. This is just how I’m feeling right now… and sometimes it helps to write it all out…
Our great Republic is not lost, not yet! There is evil working right now, and we need to stand strong! I just read something that blew my mind, it has to do with a law that Trump passed into law back in 2018, and has to do with voter integrity/suppression/fraud/interference. You might slightly remember it…? You may remember how in 2016, it was said – jokingly? – that Hilary lost the election even though the dems tried to steal it? This is it, it’s playing out before our eyes!

I need to read it over again, but I’ve included links below, if you want to read 1) to the executive order signed into law 2) the facebook link … I don’t know how accurate it is, I need to research it. Also, I need to note that I haven’t listened to the television since early this morning, nor the radio. So I’m not completely up-to-date on what’s going on…

executive order on imposing certain sanctions in the event of foreign interference in a United States election: signed into law Sept 12, 2018

hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!

  1. May God bless America! And may American’s be kind to one another. I am very curious now to see how the next four years will unfold. …and those are some fantastic songs above!

    • Thank you! I don’t think it’s over yet…media can’t declare the winner. Not until all legal votes are counted and electors put in there rightful place. There’s a battle going on that we’re not totally aware of. America will survive, one way or another.
