fear makes the wolf bigger than he actually is

~ mostly just some of my ramblings, but at the end I should let you know I do get a little political – just a paragraph

It’s so freezing cold here at the moment, and it’s not going to go anywhere anytime soon. From the looks of it anyway…we’re in what they call an Arctic Blast, which means that cold air from Canada has found its way south. An Arctic Blast is also known as a polar vortex, and in the south, the cold air comes from Antarctica.
According to the news, the cold, Arctic Blast, is going to stick around through next week at least, with winter storms off and on. What those winter storms will amount to, we will only know at a later date. They can kinda prepare us for what’s coming…

In this post, I’m sharing some photos I’ve taken yesterday (February 12) or the day before (February 11)…

wanna join me for an icy swing…?
Feel free to go ahead and take a swing if you so wish, I will stay right by the fire
I’m really only joking here…

there are ivy leaves growing on the tree, which is a Tulip poplar, that kind of give an optical illusion of ice on the tree

Some beach, Somewhere
There’s a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair
Palm trees are growing and warm breezes blowing
I picture myself right there
On some beach, somewhere

It is currently 29 degrees fahrenheit (-1.667 C) on the deck, which is where my outdoor sensor is. With the windchill, it’s probably about 25 degrees. Too cold to do much of anything. We’re also supposed to get ice or freezing rain, maybe about one-tench of an inch locally, but at the moment it’s doing nothing.

A hazy shade of winter
I look around
Leaves are brown, now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground

I couldn’t tell you the last time we actually saw the sun around here…it’s been a few days.

It might be freezing cold out right now, but soon it will be spring, and I will be getting busy bringing my gardens to life…or back to life. So, I am grateful for this downtime…a time to reflect, rejuvenate, get ready for a busy time with spring and summer.
And somehow, time wight now isn’t just dragging on. Which I am also grateful for. I wake up around 6 or 7, work on my blog and check out twitter and facebook, and the next thing I know it’s dinner time…a movie, a tv show and then bed, which, lately, has been around 9pm.

life is better in boots

especially in the winter months, or when I’m doing something where I really need to protect my feet…like helping my boyfriend split logs a few weeks ago. That day, I was so very glad I had my boots on…I had tipped a log over on its side to roll it to my boyfriend. It fell over, right on my right foot…it was big, and it was heavy! But, I never did get a bruise either! It hurt like the dickens, still hurts a little, but nothing to cry about. There’s no time to cry, when there’s work to be done.

so the soul can speak”

I should be working on photos, but I’m in no rush. I do have to admit, I have been listening to the impeachment trial…they’ve acquitted President Trump. I refuse to call him “former”…we don’t call Obama “former president” or Bush, or Clinton. Not formally anyway. It is rather irritating, though, listening to the Democrats with all the accusations of ONE riot…not an insurrection… when antifa and Black Lives Matter have been rioting, looting for almost a year. And we get blamed, criticized, shamed…and we are tired of being blamed for their actions or inactions and not being able to speak up for ourselves. I guess I’m not “woke”. In my opinion, the Democrats have been doing anything and everything to discredit Trump and the Republicans for the past four years. Remember, they started their talk of impeachment before Trump was even sworn in. I don’t believe that Biden won the election either, not legally, but…I won’t get into that today. I do think, more and more people are starting to at least question the election results and the Democrats and starting to see who they really are. The Democrats are scared to death… One day, I will go into a little more detail. When I do it will probably be based on history/facts and not really my opinion….kinda like my Legends series. That’s really the way to do it… Anyway, most days, I don’t listen to that much news, not anymore…mostly music.
The song Ripple comes to mind…

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall, you fall alone
If you should stand, then who’s to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home

Tradition Of The Snowman

For centuries children have gleefully awaited the winter’s first snowfall. Rolling large balls of that fluffy white gift from heaven, they delight in making their own special companion. Completed with a a carrot for a nose, coal for the eyes and mouth, and sticks for arms, the snowman does truly come to life for the children their frosty friend.
