my thoughts for today

Thank God I’m a country boy

Well a simple kinda life never did me no harm
A raisin’ me a family and workin’ on a farm
My days are all filled with an easy country charm
Thank God I’m a country boy

Been dealing with snow today…again! It feels like we’ve been dealing with snow and the cold for forever…

all of the photos in the cluster above have been taken since February 18, 2021. The snow barely gets a chance to melt, and we’re getting more. I think we’ve had snow on the ground since December 16, 2020. The ground hasn’t been completely covered since then, but with patches.

I think the next to last photo, the one with foot prints, are of a deer print and possibly a fox. It’s too big to be a cat, and doubtful to be a bear.

It’s weird, the two pics I decided to show you today, both were taken with my cell phone. The flag picture was taken almost exactly 2 months and a day after the fire photo. Coincidence…?

Here’s some snow lore for you, from Farmers’ Almanac…

  • As many days old as is the Moon on the first snow, there will be that many snowfalls by crop planting time
  • If ant hills are high in July, winter will be snowy
  • For every fog in August, there will be a snowfall the following winter
  • Squirrels gathering nuts in a flurry will cause snow to gather in a hurry
  • A green Christmas = a white Easter
  • If there is thunder in winter, it will snow seven days later
  • See how high the hornet’s nest, ’twill tell how high the snow will rest
  • The first snowfall comes six weeks after the last thunderstorm in September
  • a halo around the moon means it will rain or now soon

here’s one I heard the other day…

  • if there is snow on the ground for 3 days, it will snow again in 10 days

Don’t know exactly how true these are, but they are fun to know. My grandfather, who was part Souix Indian, always said if the [maple] leaves are turned up, it will rain soon. My personal one is, I get a mild sinus headache when there is turbulence in the air, when barometric pressure is “uneasy” so to say. Once the weather settles down, my headaches go away.

hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!

The secret to happiness is freedom. And the secret to freedom is courage.

Not everyone will understand your journey.
That’s ok.
It’s not their journey.
It’s yours.
Embrace your freedom.
