picture(s) of the week
all photos taken with my cell phone
My gardens are coming to life…despite the fact that we had a cold snap later in the week. We’ve had the wood stove going off and on throughout the week, which kinda sucks for the middle of April, but it is what it is.
I think I may have convinced my boyfriend to let some of the wildflowers grow. As long as there’s little to no grass…let it be. It’s beneficial to us…to the environment… It’s not like it’s the end of the world, and over the past few decades we’ve been conditioned to believe that the lawn needs to be perfectly trimmed to be worth anything. This is just not true…there was a time when dandelions were considered beneficial. Now they’re considered a weed and must be gotten rid of. Not my opinion… I want to get rid of as much grass as possible.
I’m getting there, where it used to take me an hour and a half to mow, it now takes an hour. Two hours if I mow everything – used to take three hours when mowing the whole property. But, don’t ask me how long it takes my boyfriend to mow…sometimes it takes him all day! It’s ridiculous!!
Throughout the summer I will more than likely be showing some of my “wild gardens”.
Not sure what this flower is, it was mixed in with some of my daffodils…Maybe once the flower grows in, starts reproducing, they’ll be able to stand up. There’s two of them right now, and are top heavy…
I got some new fish yesterday – Thursday. I was going to get a Platy, but the pet store didn’t have any…and when I mentioned that the three Tetras I had seemed to be a little aggressive towards the Platys, she suggested I get a couple more Tetras…with the aggression, the school wasn’t big enough for their liking. So, I now have 5 Tetras and if they survive and the aggression goes down, I will get another Platy or two…
