Holidays are hard anymore

my thoughts for today

I really don’t know why the last couple of holidays have hit me hard…harder than normal. This past Christmas – 2020 – the day couldn’t end soon enough. The same with New Years… It was just like, “eh, whatever”. Didn’t used to be that way.

Maybe I just need to plan on getting out for the day, if at all possible. Or at least keeping myself busy, so I don’t have time to feel bad. My son and I did our thing on the 4th – Tuesday, which meant that Sunday really was a lazy day. No plans, nothing special to do, didn’t help any that it was a gloomy partly rainy day. I was going to try and plant the flowers I got for Mother’s Day, but Mother Nature decided to put some rain in the forecast. So, maybe, even if I had wanted to “get out”, the rain would’ve stopped me.

On the plus side…

I did get out and get some photos
Cell Phone and CANON
Ants, Flowers, and even some Mud
To touch the earth
My soul does yearn

The baby wrens left the nest this morning
Improving the new feeding station for the gold finch
And other birds as they will come
Added water to the pool
The mangy fox has kept to the shadows for today
– photos to come –

Above photos are from previous years, Kalimba tried ever so hard to get to the nest,
which was one shelf above. We put some hardware cloth around the shelf to keep him out
and hopefully keep any snakes out, but allow the parents to come and go as they needed.
I believe the year these phots were taken, only two of the eggs hatched. This (2021) year they laid four eggs, four babies flew away!

  • I normally have the pool uncovered by now and working on getting it clean, but, once again Mother Nature says I have to wait.
  • Over the weekend, I learned that the fox has sarcoptic mange, which comes from parasites irritating the skin. I called a wildlife rescue to see if I can get any help with it, the lady told me that the vets recommend not putting meds out because you/I could inadvertently feed it to an unsuspecting animal. And most websites I looked at don’t deal with foxes. So, we will have to more than likely deal with it on our own. Either medicine or put it out of its misery. I don’t like the idea, but it seems I have no other choice. It will die if I don’t do something, and it could be a very painful death.

So, it’s really never as bad as it seems. It’s just getting through the moment that can be hard! I’m hoping that in time, holidays will be easy again.

Hope you have a great day!
