my thoughts for today
Well, my computer says it’s 94 degrees F (34C), but my indoor/outdoor thermometer says it’s 95. What’s one degree, right? It is 87 in the house… So, I haven’t been doing too much…anything that needs to get done happens in the morning or evening, resting during the heat of the day!
Haven’t really been doing too much this week…I did get my Carpenter Bee post in the ground on Monday (morning) and before my boyfriend left for the Eastern Shore he hung a clothes line for me!! Finally, I have a line I can hang clothes on outside…when the weather cooperates….
The stink bugs seem to have died off, so we’ll see how it goes.
This line I have up now is actually the third line I have had…the first one (above) was taken out during the ice storm we had back in 2014. It was original with the house. This was also about the same time that the stink bugs started being a problem. So, when my dad said something about replacing it I told him it wasn’t necessary – but not necessarily in those words. I had two drying racks that I could use to dry clothes, plus I also bought one of those vintage clothes lines that you attach to the wall(s). Plus, if push came to shove my dad had put a line up on the deck to hang blankets, pool towels and such. I really tried not to hang too much outside if I could help it…it was a pain in the rear trying to make sure that each article of clothing was bug free, but not only that, I couldn’t put them in the clothes hamper and bring everything in all at once. Each article of clothing had to be checked – inside and out, pockets, rolls, and all – and taken inside…individually! Not my cup of tea…
At some point, my dad had tied rope around the basketball hoop (can barely see it in the photo above), wrapped it around one maple tree then attached it to another. I usually only used it to hang blankets after camping or clothes for yard sales. In 2016, a straight wind took out part of the maple tree…taking the clothes line with it. The way the top of the tree fell, kept the basketball hoop propped up until we cut the tree.
We’ll see how long this line lasts…lol! Oh, and I might hang something from the bee post. It’s primary purpose is to hopefully keep the carpenter bees from drilling on my deck. We’ll see what happens! I am probably going to have to put one or two out front as well, as they are drilling in my grape arbor and a post for my hopper bird feeder.

Oh, and before I forget my boyfriend is on the Eastern Shore – visiting his son. My son and I were supposed to go, but I felt that neither one of us would have fun. So we stayed home! I just couldn’t see driving over there to pretty much do the same thing here. My boyfriend says he’s giving up the bottle, so far…he seems to be keeping his word. And I’m keeping mine – one more sip, he’s gone!
hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!
