When you do what you love, and love what you do . . . I think it shows

Here are some photos of visitors we’ve had grace our presence within the last few days…

I snapped two photos of this guy, a Red Fox, and wanted to get a photos with my cell phone, but my boyfriend scared it off before I could. I told him what I wanted to do, but he wasn’t listening.

It’s really not that unusual to see a fox during the day. Rare? Yes, but not that unusual. They are mostly nocturnal creatures.

A cat bird stopped by to get a snack from the woodpecker feeder…still haven’t seen a woodpecker though. Don’t know why…

This little guy is what prompted me to move the woodpecker feeder to begin with…

I think it’s just a baby…and the Dogwood Tree is dying. Sad, but it happens. Can you see the hole the woodpecker(s) have drilled in the tree? Just to the left of the woodpeckers head…

The squirrel stopped by to ask me to put some feed in the feeder! Don’t worry little buddy…you won’t starve!

I think one of these is an offspring/baby. I had been watching them in the dogwood…they would hover together, instead of chasing each other off. I now have four hummingbird feeders, one of which I have let go to the bees. I’m hoping this fall, after the flowers have died off, to put another pole in the ground with an L bracket and another hummingbird feeder. Well, the hummingbird feeder won’t go out til next spring, but fall is the best time to do something like that. I may need to use concrete…

I believe the Blue Jays are a family…

I think there are actually seven Sparrows that you can see, or partially see. Oops! Oh well…

Aren’t they a handsome couple? The male flew up and landed on the shepherds hook. At first I thought it was an Indigo Bunting and was going to eat from one of the feeders. When it perched in the Dogwood I realized it was a blue bird, and the female flew up as well. They never did eat from any of the feeders…

How rare to see a male Purple Finch and female (?) American Gold Finch eating from the same feeder, at the same time! The American Gold Finch could be a juvenile…

So…those are the photos I have for now of the visitors to my garden…I have yet to get a picture of the ever elusive skunk! I have seen him, but he doesn’t like to have his photo taken. One of the barn cats has been making him or her self cozy on our deck…

I know it’s not the best photo, but it will have to do…taking a photo through the door, plus the screen door, with a cell phone isn’t always the best. Could be worse…if I had opened the door, she would’ve run off. She is hunched down on the railing…

We are under a thunderstorm watch until 9pm tonight…and I’ve got clothes outside. As soon as I got the clothes hung up, the notice came through on my phone! Isn’t it the way it works?!? It will cloud over and look ominous, the the sun will pop back out. Then it will get dark again…which it is right now!

I’ve started putting some whites on the ground, to hopefully get them a little whiter. Not sure if it’s working though…
Something about the sunlight and chloroform from the grass is supposed to act like bleach. Not sure exactly, but I will be looking it up…when I have a chance.

I don’t always have time to fold laundry, but when I do, I don’t.

  1. Teeming with life out in your neck of the woods!

We have no shortage of tree rats. I’m hoping to partake of some in October. 😁

  2. You have a small wildlife zoo out there! We have woodpeckers at our hummingbird feeder all the time! More woodpeckers and finches than hummingbirds, I think. You have some lovely birds in your yard 💙
