digging, digging, digging…and more digging

It’s supposed to rain tomorrow…I mean, down pour, with 2 to 3 inches possible. Maybe more..
start of the new berm
So, today I went out and dug a trench, added a couple small logs and piled some dirt beside the logs – between the trench and logs.
It looks like the berm is in the right spot to catch the majority of water. Eventually the pipe will be gone, either replaced with logs and dirt or left as is. While it’s raining I will be going out and checking things, seeing how it’s working. You just might see a video and quite possibly even some photos.
I also worked a little on the walkway…
Not much, my main concern was working on the berm. I filled a 5 gallon bucket with dirt, filled in the hole with rock and left it as it is for now.
I think the whole area along the brick part is going to have to be trenched, deeper than what I would normally do. Then, as I fill in, trench from side to side periodically. The next part is going to have brick stepping stones, then there will be another trench on the other side of that – on the driveway side, not the deck side. I still haven’t leveled out the one brick…it will get done. I have noticed that when it really pours, the water does puddle, but as soon as it stops raining it drains away. As I get more done, it shouldn’t puddle like it does now.
Oh, my boyfriend doesn’t really like that I do all this, but I think he’s starting to understand that this is who I am. I’m not the girl that gets or hires someone to do everything for me. If I can’t do it, then yeah, I will find someone to help me. That’s just the way it is…my dad didn’t raise a girl that’s afraid the break a nail or sweat a little. lol
Actually, even though it was cooler today, it was humid and I was drenched in sweat by the time I was done. If you had taken a look at me, you probably would’ve thought I had just gotten out of the pool. Which I did do, and am about to do again!

I’ve been known to smear dirt on my body when I’m working in the yard…it helps mask the odors that attract mosquitoes. No perfumes help too.
