When I go into the garden, I forget everything . . .

Photos of the Weekend

Yesterday, Sunday, I decided to so out and work in my graden(s) for a few hours. Today, my back hurts and my leg muscles are sore…but that’s okay. Tomorrow, I will be all better. The main thing, for me to remember is to pace myself. For nearly two years, my boyfriend hardly let me do anything…so now that he realizes this is who I am, I’m out of shape. Or at least not in the shape I was in. It took me nearly 15 years to get to the place where I was, I won’t gain it all back in one summer – not after taking nearly two years off. That I’m able to do what I’m able to do is a blessing, for me. I will get back to doing what I love to do…persistence and pacing. That’s all it will take.

So, the photos below are ones I took over the weekend…

Hope you enjoy!

I know the above photo isn’t the best, but it’s the best one I got of the two ladybugs, er, mating… the one of the single ladybug is better!

During the heat of the summer, I tend to let my garden be…which the bugs and critters love. The photos above were taken this morning…I forgot to take a before photo. But, the rock path you see off the sidewalk…it was pretty much obscured. Not much growing in the path, just the tall stuff had fallen over, making it difficult to get to the birdfeeder. I don’t use chemicals, so gardening involves a lot of pulling and clipping, sore muscles and a achey back. But it’s all good!

some kinda oat?

My boyfriend is always getting on me for not wearing gloves! I grabbed hold of this “grass” to pull it and got one of the stickers stuck in me…it reminds me of sea oat, I think. I had to use the clippers to pull it out of my finger…no crying involved!

All the photos you’ve seen so far were taken in my front garden, below are photos from my different gardens around back…part of the reason I allow things to go wild is because of the photo above. I will clip the plant the nest is attached to, but I don’t burn it or mow it. I put it somewhere safe, like in/on one of my wood piles.

Yes, that’s a spittoon…I have three of them. Two have house plants in them. The grass in the foreground will be dug up and replaced with rock.

not in my garden, but I would love to have one of these, what ever it is…
some kind of woodland flower, I do believe

The above photo was taken by my pool…I needed to clip some of the wildflowers back – either Golden Rod or Ragweed – as they had fallen over the path, which needs to be stepped out. It’s gotten slippery!

“When I go into the garden, I forget everything.
It’s uncomplicated in my world of gardening.
It’s trial and error, really.
If something doesn’t work, it comes out,
and you start all over again.”

they just want a constant reassurance
