I’ve started collecting ash from the woodstove. There’s so many uses for wood stove ash, which I might write about later, but the main reason is to help dehumidify the house during the summer. That, and help deter mice – if the need arises. I haven’t noticed any lately, especially since my cat passed away last summer…probably because we have barn cats come over for a visit, plus black snakes, fox, and whatever other critters eat mice. Those critters are the ones I know we have around here, that eat mice.
Seven jars, plus one I haven’t been able to quite fill yet, is a good start. I know I probably need much more, but I have all winter yet to collect ash.
not the best photos, I know…but I just wanted to show you my next project – which is in process. I’m adding shelves to the far wall, to add more storage. I took the doors off the cabinet above the table, added a shelf below it and plan on moving the rod/pipe with the hangers and hummingbird feeders on it. That rod/pipe is pretty much just being turned 90 degrees so it’s horizontal with the wall where the wash board is hanging.
There are two floor lamps I plan on rewiring and using, in the foreground of the first photo [above]. Of coarse, then I need to find a lamp shade to go with it. Vintage or antique would be the best options. The drafting table, propped up against the wall to the left, I want to put back together. I just need to find somewhere to put it.
I did get the area I had been working on cleared out for the freezer chest.
Now we just need to get over to Lowe’s and order it, and have it delivered.
Oh yeah, we got the tarps up on the deck yesterday! Now, it can snow and rain all it wants! Just don’t tell my boyfriend I said that!! He absolutely cannot stand the snow…
