Back in 2010, we decided to go camping on Assateague Island. It was delayed a couple days because a hurricane came through and the island was shut down. The mosquitos were horrible, and they wouldn’t let us move anywhere else – they said all the campsites for tents were taken. We still had fun…just had to buy a ton of bug spray!
One day, while we were enjoying the sun, beach and waves, two horse harems decided to make an appearance! They pretty much stayed away from each other, but we still kept an eye on them. One group was on one side of us, another group was on the other side…and we were stuck in the middle. As one group was meandering about, they decided to check out our spot! Um, yeah, we moved!! The brown mare, right beside the umbrella, even decided to lay down next to the blanket we had spread out for a while! Our spot was the highlight that day!
I’m sure there are a bunch of photos out there with our umbrella and these horses! All we could do is laugh…even when someone made the comment about feeling sorry for whoever this spot belonged to! “Um, yeah, that’s us!”
We didn’t do any of the trails…not sure why!

It was a short stay, but we had fun! Even if the horses did take our spot! It’s a memory that won’t soon be forgotten!!
hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!
