sometimes, there is nothing I can do

weekend thoughts

Now that winter has set in, even though it’s technically still fall where I live, I don’t have a whole lot to do…outside anyway. There is always something, even if it’s “just” keeping the woodstove going, or stacking wood, but who wants to hear about that? Sometimes, that by itself is enough to wear a person out! I have learned to pace myself, take time for myself, and not be so busy that I can’t do what I need to do later. But, I learned that a long, long time ago.
While I’ve been busy defrosting the freezer, my boyfriend has been bringing wood home and splitting it! At this point, I’m not getting a woodshed. But we are stacking wood up in the mower shed, and on the deck. We should be able to get a cord or so in the mower shed, stacked up alongside the mower – with a temporary wall to keep the wood off of the mower.

Whoever said the simple life was easy
was lying…
but I refuse to complain
I did choose this life…
kind of!

I’m exhausted after yesterday, worn out actually. Five hours of sleep don’t help much…but I will get through! Hopefully, with more sleep tonight, I will be 100% tomorrow. I did start getting some of the food back in the freezer I defrosted. Finish up in a little bit, then things will be back to normal…back to normal for me anyway!

So much ice, but I got it defrosted just in time for dinner! The photo below isn’t even half of it!

The towels I used, when they got wet enough I had to stick in the washer and spin dry. I don’t have a dryer, neither do I have a sump pump in the basement floor. I used a five-gallon bucket to carry the wet towels back upstairs, so I wasn’t dripping water all over the place. Any water/ice that was in the bucket was dumped in the kitchen sink.

If I can figure out a way to divert the water from going into the septic, I will put a sink in the basement. There’s a way, but we’d have to dig out the hill out back and that just doesn’t seem plausible. Plus, where would the water go, once we get it outside…towards the pool area, unless we also dug a holding pond. That just doesn’t seem doable, too much work. It would be nice to do any canning in the basement, I could very easily set up a tiny semi-kitchen – sink, stove…I’ve got the counters and space. Just, is it worth it? As you know, I’m working on getting shelves put up for a pantry and cleaning out the area.

We’ll just have to see how things go!

At this point, the only thing I know for sure is I am exhausted and am going to wrap it up here. Hope everyone has an enjoyable night! See you on the flip side!!

Did you know that:

  • Psalm 118 is the middle chapter of the entire Bible?
  • Psalm 117, before Psalm 118 is the shortest chapter in the Bible?
  • Psalm 119, after Psalm 118, is the longest chapter in the Bible?
  • The Bible has 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after Psalm 118?
  • If you add up all the chapters except Psalm 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters.
  • 1188 or Psalm 118 verse 8 is the middle verse of the entire Bible
  • Should the central verse not have an important message? “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.” Psalm 118:8
