something happened

January 4, 2022

~ Don’t ask me to explain, because I can’t. It took me over two hours to put the post – below – together last night. How? Why? I have no idea…I sat down to write it around 10:30pm, looked at the clock a few minutes later and it was after 12:30. There was/is no way it should have taken me 2 hours to write less than 500 words. I pretty much knew what I was writing about when I started. Time stood still, for me, for some reason, good or bad, it happened and I couldn’t post last night. My arm started hurting during this time…I should have it in a sling, but I don’t. Gonna drink some ginger lemonade in a little bit, and just take it as easy as possible the rest of the day.

The only thing I do know…there is a reason things happened the way they did last night/yesterday, and the only thing to do now is move on…

January 3, 2021

I’m feeling much better now…don’t know what was going on earlier.

~ every time I went to take a photo, the birds flew away

Not sure if I’ll be doing “weekend thoughts” much more, at least through the winter. I really have no idea, but I’m feeling I need to move away from that, at least for the time being. I will be doing something, just not that. Maybe more of just some thoughts…we’ll see what happens.

I did get another shelf up and a little more organized. I didn’t take a picture, but that rod I said I was going to move did get moved, rotated. It took some finagling…one of the wires that my dad used to hang it originally broke, so I had to rig something up while holding the rod up at the same time. It also didn’t help that the stool I was using wasn’t really tall enough. I used one of those old-fashioned step stools that also doubles as a seat. What I really need is a 5-foot ladder, which I don’t have. I have a 8- or 9-foot ladder and then an extension ladder. I guess a 5 foot one is next on my list.

You can barely see it, but I put an old throw rug and a piece of drywall on the concrete floor, to keep the concrete from soaking up or absorbing the liquids. If the concrete is sealed, there are no worries…but ours isn’t. I have a piece of leftover lamenant (sp?) flooring under the sodas and water I have stored.

The first photo is how things looked before I moved the rod/pipe; the second photo is the basement “pantry” before I started adding shelves; the last photo is recent. The shelf I just put up is a piece of plywood with contact paper wrapped around it, put up with L brackets. They make all different sizes. The next shelf will be a 2×4, you can see the brackets on the shelf, also on the red table. I know I won’t be able to put as much on a 2×4, but that’s okay. I’ll probably put two or three up like that, then wider shelves up higher. With all the canning I plan on doing later in the summer or early in the fall, I need all the shelf space I can get.

The upper cabinet is full of mason jars, most empty but I’m starting to get a healthy start of charcoal and ash from the woodstove.

I was searching for a song to put on my story on Facebook, typed in “Holly’s World” just to see what, if anything came up and this jazz song by Roberto Boccasavio came up! I can’t tell for sure if this song is exactly the same, but it sounds like it. The video is a little over 3 hours long, but it’s very relaxing in my opinion, would make for good background music if you’re into it!

~ This is where I stopped last night…as I mentioned – there is no way it took me two plus hours to type that!
I really don’t see a whole lot of changes moving forward, just the “weekend thoughts”. I have been thinking I should be a little more careful with sharing all the “prepping” I’ve been doing. It’s good to share what knowledge you/I have, but at the same time it can be dangerous letting the “world” know what you’re doing. In too much detail anyway! We’ll see how things go moving forward.

hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!

“Aren’t you terrified of what 2022 could be like? Everything is so messed up…”
“I think it will bring flowers.”
“Yes? Why?”
“Because I’m planting flowers.”

Building the life you want is a forever kind of thing. You don’t arrive the same day you start the journey. Your garden doesn’t feed you the day you plant the seeds.

The question is not how quickly and easily you can get what you want, but whether or not you’re ready to stick by it for years, even decades, until you arrive. The life of your dreams is not something you achieve, it’s something you build through your habits. To get there, you don’t need a temporary change in your circumstances, you need a permanent change in your behavior.
