Fort Frederick…
built in 1756 at the onset of the French and Indian War
Fort Frederick
didn’t see any action during the war, but was an important staging and supply base for English operations
in 1777, the fort was used as a prison camp
during the Civil War, two Union Infantry companies were stationed there
(it’s also said that the fort was used as a prison camp as well during the Civil War)
