back together again

We took the stove pipe apart on Saturday, which wasn’t as much of a chore as we thought it would be. This is the first time we have done this since we installed the wood stove in 2018. All things considered, it wasn’t as bad as we thought it could be. But it could’ve been worse…right?

Yes, the pipe should be cleaned more often…now that we know what we’re doing, at least every other year. If not more often. The chimney, on the outside of the house, does get cleaned every year. It is a lot easier to take apart than we thought it would be, which is what kept us from taking it apart. My housemate even took the fire bricks out of the top of the stove and cleaned all that too.

Now, we are one step closer to being ready for winter. Not that I want it to set in tomorrow or anything like that – I still have some garden work I would like to get done before the cold sets in. Believe it or not, I still have the pool open – it’s cold, but feels good when I’ve been hard at work in the gardens. A quick dip, even if it feels like a polar plunge! Always does the trick for me.
