it’s not even winter yet, and I’m ready for it to be over

the first and the last

my thoughts for today

May 16, 2022 ~ October 27, 2022

Can’t wait for the Irises to start popping up again. For spring to bring forth life again.
It’s going to be a long, long winter.
Luckily, we’re pretty much ready for whatever might come our way.

Don’t get me wrong, I think there’s beauty in every season, every season has it’s place. It’s life… I’m just not completely ready for winter to take hold quite yet.

The wood stove has had a fire in it, pretty much non-stop for a couple of weeks now. There have been a few days we haven’t had to light a fire or start one to take the chill off. But not many. I was even told I was weak on Facebook, for starting one. Yeah, I don’t care…when I get cold, I get irritable, I feel miserable. And I don’t like being wrapped up in a blanket all day. It’s hard to get anything done that way. But I guess that’s just me.

This house does hold heat well, and when the sun’s shining it helps that much more. It’s not like we have to have a blazing hot fire…just enough of a fire to keep the chill off.

Houses and developments are popping up all over. These houses are brand new, or being put up. Some are already sold and moved into. The property used to be a VFW golf course, on which I used to go sledding many years ago with my dad and sister.

On the right is Summers’ Farm. It will soon be developed…for many years, since my son was little, they would do a pumpkin patch, but have moved to Middletown, which is on the other side of the mountain from me. Something like 300 homes are slotted to be put up, which really sucks!

The road on which we are traveling is supposed to dead end and traffic will be diverted through the new development. At least that’s the latest I have heard.

The farmhouse and barn(s) are supposed to stay, with a farmers’ market and community center.

Summers farm master plan

the blue outline/circle (above) is Summers farm.

My property is/would be above the word “farm”.

US Alt 40 takes you into Middletown if you follow the road to the top or into Frederick if following to the bottom.

This image shows what the developers are planning.

Where it says VFW Country Club…is being developed now. The Summers farm shows the potential development. It will obviously be done in phases.

There is no legend, so I can’t tell you what’s what for certain, but everything in the bright green will be developed. From this it looks like Mt Philip will remain the same, but there is no way the road can handle that much traffic. It’s bad now during rush hour traffic. And they can’t really widen the road, considering that they’re already building houses – right on the road.

I guess we’ll just have to see how things go! Which seems like the story of my life.

hope you have a great day!
