lyrics:
A buzzard took a monkey for a ride in the air
The monkey thought that everything was on the square
The buzzard tried to toss (toll throw) the monkey off of his back
But the monkey grabbed his neck and said now listen jack
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don’t you blow your top
Ain’t no use in diving
What’s the use of diving
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don’t you blow your top
The buzzard told the monkey you are choking me
Release your hold and i will set you free
The monkey looked the buzzard right dead in the eye
And said your story’s so touching, it’s sounds just like a lie
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don’t you blow your top
(…)
The buzzard told the monkey you are choking me
Release your hold and i will set you free
The monkey looked the buzzard right dead in the eye
And said your story’s so touching, it’s sounds just like a lie
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don’t you blow your top
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don’t you blow your top

The Andrews sisters were a close harmony singing group of the swing and boogie-woogie musical era. The group consisted of three sisters: contralto LaVerne Sophia (1911-1967), soprano Maxene Anglyn (1916-1995), and mezzo-soprano Patricia “Patty” Marie (1918-2013). Hits include “Boogie woogie bugle boy”, “Rum and Coca-Cola”, and “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (with anyone but me). During WW2, the sisters were dubbed or nicknamed “America’s Wartime sweethearts”. They also appeared with Abbot and Costello, Bing Crosby and others.
“The Andrews Sisters really had only one big fight. It started in 1937 and it’s still going.”
~ the sisters’ well publicized feuds kept them in the gossip pages, although they were able to put disagreements to the side and do their performances.

The Sisters make me nostalgic for a time I wasn’t even alive in. Ever heard Civilization?
