It’s a start

On Sunday, I started digging…yet another project!

This is something I’ve been needing to do, but it’s been too hot or I’ve just been too busy doing other things to do anything. On Sunday, I got started – it was cool enough. I’ve got some more to do, but like the title states, it is a start.

An image before I got started…

side by side, before and after – even though I’m not finished at the time the second photo was made…

I only do this kind of stuff in the morning, before the sun gets too hot – unless I’m working under some trees or in full shade. At least that’s the way it goes during the summer. In the spring and fall I might work in the afternoon.

and after…

I still have a little work to do, but not much. Mostly just put some more river rock down, and let the rest fill in. I doubt I will put any flowers on the left side of the walkway…there is fern, mint and a Rose of Sharon growing. So, I think I’ll just let it fill in on its own.

And some blooming flowers in my “bird feeding station”, which is to the right of the walkway…

Most of the flowers have self-seeded – either from the wind or from the birds. The purple morning glory is growing on my t-pole, which holds two bird feeders at the moment. A finch feeder and a hummingbird feeder. When the hummingbirds go away for the winter, I will put another feeder in its place – one I call the lantern feeder, because it looks like a lantern.

Once the plants/flowers start dying off, the garden will be thinned out. It’s really kind of hard to get into at the moment…I thought I had gotten all of the weedy vine (not the morning glory) out of there. Oh well…when I can, I will be pulling it out.

*all photos were made by me and made on my property unless otherwise stated

hope you have a great day!
