Below is a list of “banned” books I would like to read…

~ Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll: this is in my TBR pile, night be the next book I read. I’ve read different versions of the book, and seen different adaptions in movies, but haven’t read the actual book
~ The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer: this book is also in my TBR pile
~ James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl: seen the movie
~ Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
~ A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle
~ Maus by Art Spiegelman (?) this is a possibility
~ A Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

~ Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

~Watership Down by Richard Adams (banned by individual schools in US for violence)

One thing I’m finding is topics/books on LGBTQ+ that have been banned or challenged in the American school system, and a really hard time finding books from the past that have been banned. I know they’re out there, I just can’t find them right now.

Before I go, I will do a post on LGBTQ+ soon… mostly my thoughts. I won’t get into it right now – I want something to right about later. But I will say this…I don’t think LGBTQ books should be outright banned; age restricted – yes. Available with parents permission – yes. Think about it this way…outright banning LGBTQ books across the board could be the first step towards banning other books. Books containing pedophilia and/or explicit sexual activity (pornography) is a whole separate issue and I think should be addressed separately. But I will have more on this subject soon.

hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!

  1. I have copies of seven of those nine books – sadly, I have only read two of them. One of the two books was read several times
