Later on today, I’m going to be posting some images that I took yesterday. I’d like some feedback on them. I plan on posting them to picfair, but I thought I’d run them by you first.

Thanks!

(I probably won’t be able to post til this afternoon, I work this morning and it’s already getting late.)

POINT AND SHOOT

While I was attending classes at Shepherd university, a professor once challenged us to “point and shoot”, using a dslr camera. With enough practice, a photographer can get pretty good.

He told us he’d hang his camera around his neck and walk around. Adjusting his camera as needed…without lifting his camera to his face. Of course, this was back in the day before digital cameras!

So, here’s a few of my images…

The first two, I was showing my boyfriend the concept behind this technique. They are not cropped or edited in any way. Not bad, in my humble opinion.

The following I did crop a little, but they’re still point and shoot.

When photgraphing nature in this way, you can say “that’s what I wanted to focus on” and leave it at that, for the most part.

Some of the images are in manual focus mode, some are automatic, but all are in manual shooting mode.

I was going to add details for each individual photo, but my battery is getting low and my phone is acting up. Next time I do a point and shoot post (next week?) I will be sure to add the details.

So, until next time…

Don’t let the rain keep you inside! Use it to your advantage!

Peace and love to all!!

Lizard on a cavern wall

Taken Sept 26, 2014

I don’t normally center images like this, but this one I did bc I wanted to make sure I got him, and I got him in focus.

My son and I were on a field trip with his homeschool group to some caverns in Pennsylvania, Indian Caverns, I think.

Random Photos

I was going to make todays post about my son, but I figured I should probably ask him first! Yesterday…we went shopping and he had me laughing almost the entire time! So, if he gives me permission I will tell you all about him. Well, not all but you know what I mean.

Country sunset

So, todays post is going to be random…with old and new photos.

All packed and ready to go

Pictures can be deceiving!

What?!?
Soda cupcakes

A few years ago I learned how to make soda cakes! Mix all the dry ingredients and add soda. I used mountain dew for these cupcakes, but you can use any soda. The icing is home made. (The instructions I found actually called for baking cake mix, but I figured I’d try mixing the dry ingredients and adding soda…worked just fine!)

My river, my lane

The following photos were taken yesterday or the day before

Bee on sunflower
Green and white
Butterfly on green leaf
Blue skies

So, if I could cancel today, I would. But, life goes on and so must I. Nothing major is wrong or anything like that. But if I could stay in bed and forget everything I would.

Hope everyone has a beautiful day!

Tomorrow is a new day!

Iced in

Feb 5, 2014

I figured since I showed you the damage done to my car during the snow/ice storm of 2014, I’d show you the elm tree blocking the drive way.

When you live where we live, you get used to the possibility of being snowed in. We’ve been snowed in for 5 days before…you buy everything you might need to get you through for a few days, depending on how bad the storm is. In this case it was ice and we were in for three days.

My Cat – part one

I was outside yesterday evening, trying to get some inspiration. It was a grey, dismal day – all day long! The wind was blowing as well, which made it hard to get anything good.

Anyway, as I was walking up the hill in the backyard I saw my cat – Kalimba. At first, I thought it was one of my neighbors barn cats.

Of course, it didn’t take long for me to realize it was Kalimba.

He normally runs away when he’s outside. But last night, he came right up to me and let me pet him. If I had pulled up a chair, he probably would have laid at my feet.

When he first came to live with us, he would follow me around the yard! It was actually quite funny…to see him leaping through the yard! I wish I had gotten video or photos.

He only goes out at night, or evening. I think he’s staring at the neighbors in this photo, making sure they stay on their side of the fence.

Maybe tonight, he’ll go for a walk with me.

He’s a weird cat…some photos to prove it!

I know the image isn’t straight…just goes to show that he’s not the only weird one in the family!

Kalimba’s back feet

He must’ve been cold! This was taken in the storage area in the basement. It’s one of his favorite places. He usually sleeps on top of the blanket, but when I went into the area for something (can’t remember what for now) I found him under the blanket.

Whatever you do, don’t have green carpet installed in your house! It shows EVERYTHING! And it doesn’t matter how often you vacuum…five minutes later, it looks dirty again. This carpet was put in when the house was built…I finally took it up (myself) and had wood floors installed in 2017. I absolutely love them!!

Pole dance

I turned the photo above black and white so the green floors weren’t as noticable.

Oh the places he sleeps!

He’ll sit in front of the door and just stare at it…like staring will make the door open. I’ve got pictures somewhere of him with his front paws on the door knob! I’ll have to see if I can find them.

Chasing something under the rug.

I guess that’s about all I have…for the moment any way!

Hope everyone has a beautiful day!
