I realized when going through things, that I had already used the photo I had on here previously.

So, I changed it! Sorry about that!!

100 Word Sentence

August 26, 2019

(This sentence is actually 107 words. Just goes to show that it can be done…and then some. Hope you enjoy!)

The Moth

The little orange and white moth flew around all night, enjoying night pleasures – the darkness, the crickets chirping, the night friends he would chat with about nothing at all but all the same was very important gossip about any thing and every thing, and the sweet dew that would rise up from the ground, until the sun started to rise signaling that it was time to find a place to sleep and he found a nice comfy resting spot on a soft pillow on a deck that belonged to a nice lady that liked to take pictures, but he didn’t mind because the lady was pretty too.

A Cicada Shell, Branches on the Ground, and Clean Up

a cicada shell

Believe it or not, I was able to get out to go to work yesterday morning! Most, if not all, the branches are picked up and stacked, ready to be cut down and piled for the wood stove.

Branches like this one get cut into smaller lengths and piled up for the wood stove. Not the whole thing, but most of it.

The pine doesn’t get burned in the wood stove… it creates too much creosote and could cause problems. The best place for it is the bonfire.

I only helped my boyfriend out until about 130 or 2…I needed to rest so I could work on Sunday. At some point, I won’t be working Sunday’s anymore. Don’t know when, but it won’t be too much longer.

mostly kindling

This pile actually got moved up closer to the house. We can keep a better eye on it there. I don’t trust the JW’s (Jehovah’s Witnesses) to not take any wood – they have taken things before and have actually mowed down my flowers. But, I think they know that this isn’t their property. At least until a new batch comes in. I’m putting a post, some time soon, in the ground near the property line between us and them, with a “No Trespassing” sign.

I didn’t realize til I uploaded this picture that the (c)HCMorris2019 was gray. Oh well, not changing it now! So, as you can see, when this pic was taken the lane was clear! It didn’t get cleaned up until yesterday afternoon, but it is cleaned up! Now, we need to cut everything down so it can be piled up for the wood stove.

Hope everyone has a great say!

(I will be posting my 100 word sentence…sometime today! I do have to work, so it might not be til this afternoon! And, also, the month is almost over and I don’t have too many left over’s – I don’t think. So, for now anyway, I’ll just make a post about the left over’s and go from there.)

Sunday’s Quotes and Word of the Day

August 25, 2019

I’m going to do something a little different today. Still doing the quotes, but they’re not pictures (I’m running out!). So…it’s still quotes, but quotes I’ve collected/found and a word with it’s definition. We shall see how it goes!

WORD OF THE DAY:

“Shaconage” (sha-kon-o-hey) Cherokee, means “place of blue smoke”; refers to the Great Smokey Mountains

QUOTES: READING/BOOKS/LITERATURE

“The one way of tolerating existence it to lose oneself in literature as in a perpetual orgy.” – Gustave Flaubert

“I cannot live without books.” – Thomas Jefferson

“”Lay down a method also for your reading; let it be in a consistent and consecutive course, and not in that desultory and unmethodical manner, in which many people read scarps of different authors, upon different subjects.” – Earl of Chesterfield

“Friends can betray you but books are always loyal.” – Wang Gho Zhen

“Never judge a book by its movie.” – anonymous

“The contents of someone’s bookcase are part of his history, like an ancestral portrait.” – Anatole Broyard

Gardening, insects and trimming trees

August 25, 2019

This is going to be a two part series, I took way too many pictures! I normally don’t post more than 5 or 6 photos at a time…and I’ve got 13 here! It’s cool enough right now that I can get into my gardens and do some much needed weeding. And I took pictures along the way of things I found, or bugs that stopped by to say hello!!

I stick my tongue out at you!

This little guy flew into the garden and hung out long enough for me to get his picture!

I learned a while ago to take my camera with me, even if just working in the garden! I picked up a clump of grass and there was a snake!! Of course, my camera was in the house! I ran inside, grabbed the camera and hoped the snake was still there. It was!! It was just a little gray rat snake…but it was only feet from me! And I’d been chopping up the ground with the shovel, to make it easier to get the grass and weeds out! I’m actually surprised I didn’t cut him in half!

A piece of snake skin!

Talking about snakes…I found this in the same garden where I found the gray rat snake. It’s just a little thing!! No snakes yesterday, just snake skin.

A succulent

In this garden, from front to back, is lemon thyme, (rocks!) iris and grape expectations, and black eyed susans, the grape arbor and then a crepe myrtle, There’s actually more, but you can’t see it. When I was working on the iris section, I found some strawberry plants I need to transplant. I used to have strawberries there, but I moved them to a spot where they get more sun.

trampoline (garden) spider
dinner is served
aphid
scorpion wasp

I’ve never seen a scorpion wasp in person before! And never on my property! It was a treat to see…even though I know they can sting and I’m sure it doesn’t feel good when they do.

Butterfly on my tire
Fly to me, pretty butterfly!
Umm…hope no one needs to go anywhere!

After I finished gardening, I helped my boyfriend trim some trees back! I was done gardening and helping him before 11am. I also got in the pool and cleaned it, as much as I didn’t want to because it is so cool right now. But I had to and it got done! It won’t be too long now before we close the pool up for the winter (maybe two weeks, give or take).

So, the next post will be images of trimming the trees back. I should be able to post them tomorrow!

Hope you enjoyed your Saturday!

“My Saturday was going pretty well until I realized it was Sunday!” – unknown

Hope you have a great day where ever you may be!

Today is National Banana Split Day and National Secondhand Wardrobe Day! I can live with that!

Thanks for visiting!

(On a side note, I’ll be posting “SUNDAY’S” post this afternoon… I need to start getting ready for work and my computer is being really slow this morning! I think it’s time for me to put some photos on the external hard drive! Have fun what ever you do!)
