What is butterfly beer?
Well, quite simply, it is over ripe fruit and beer. You can use just about any soda…I use root beer. The website, national butterfly center, says to use bananas and brown sugar. Check out theur website for more info!
I just use fruit and soda…they absolutely love it!
Another thing you can do to help pollinators is water and marbles. Place marbles in a shallow dish and fill with water, making sure nit to cover the marbles. The marbles are to keep the bees from drowning.
I plan on posting again later! Soon, maybe. Today is Saturday, so I’m not stressing about anything

They hung out there all day…I first noticed them around 8am. At dinnertime, around 6pm, they were still there. (The one on the inside had jumped over to the deck, but had pretty much not moved all day. ) They are nocturnal creatures after all.
The bigger one seemed to be having troubles before I took this picture…I wiped his mouth off (he had gunk in both corners of his mouth), and put him back. Much happier!
So hopefully I will be able to get back to my normal posts tomorrow! It’s been a real struggle using my cellphone…zaps my battery quicker than you can say “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”! Don’t know if that’s spelled right…I sounded it iut as I wrote it.
No quotes or abstract photos today!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
I’ve already been out working on one of my gardens this morning…the bugs are terrible!! Don’t think I’ll do much more today – the bugs are only going to get worse as it gets hotter.
It did rain a little this morning.
Don’t know exactly when we will get the internet back…my boyfriend needs to pay the bill. That’s all I’m going to say about that…
I first noticed these flowers yesterday! I’ve got really good photos of them…with my other camera!! So, when I can I will post them.
They’re really pretty when they’re open…pink with yellow-white spots with blue centers.
I had a terrible time getting my cell phone to focus on what I wanted it to focus on. I was really getting irritated…gotta work with what I’ve got for the time being.
So, I’m going to spend my day going through more pictures and editing. This afternoon I’m going to clean the pool…it’s almost there, after today’s vacuum it should be ready for swimmers!
Words of wisdom (from Native Americans):
Don’t be afraid to cry, it will free your mind if sorrowful thoughts.
Day and night cannot dwell together.
It is better to have less thunder in the mouth and more lightning in the hand.
Actually, just some pictires…
-that it’s not what you have in life, but who you have in life that matters.
– that you can get by on charm for about 15 minutes. After that, you’d better know something.
This tree will eventually overpower the lilacs and crepe myrtles, but there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s going to take years and by then… maybe it won’t be so bad.
Pink begonia flowers and green leaves. Mostly junk, but there is an azalea bush!
Sun drop flowers
Telling me he needs some water! He drinks out of the toilet when there’s no water in his bowl. Luckily for him, I don’t use that blue stuff or any other chemicals that stay in the tank or bowl!
So, until tomorrow…hope all is well and there’s plenty of sunshine to keep you warm!
LAKOTA INSTRUCIONS FOR LIVING
Friend, do it this way
– that is,
Whatever you do in life
Do the very best you can.
With both your heart and mind.
And if you do it that way,
The Power of the Universe
Will come to your assistance,
If your heart and mind are in unity.
When one sits in the Hoop Of the People
One must be responsible because
All of Creation is related
And the hurt of one is the hurt of all,
And the honor of one is the honor of all.
And whatever we do effects everything in the universe.
F you do it that way,
– that is, if you truly join your heart and mind
As one – whatever you ask for,
That’s the way it’s going to be.
– passed down from White Buffalo Calf Woman
The internet is down at my house right now so I’m writing this on my phone! It will take a little longer than normal…
I’ve been busy this morning going through photos to put on my portfolio page, when I can get to it! And of course, they’re all on my computer. So it will have to wait until later!
Waking up this morning, it was only 51 degrees outside! A bit chilly, especially for June. I’m dreading cleaning the pool later, but it has to be done. At least the sun is out…that will help! But soon enough it will be hot.
My boyfriend brought the owl home from work and put it down by the pool…I guess this morning. When it got light enough out and I checked on the pool to see how clear it was I noticed it. Of course, I couldn’t see exactly what it was so I went down to check it out! My boyfriend came out on the deck at that time and laughed, saying, “Sure didn’t take you long to find it!” Now to figure out where to put it!
I transplanted the hosta last fall, after I put the rock and stones in. I think I need to add more river rock, we shall see. If for nothing else, to help keep the grass away. I plan on getting more rock with this paycheck, so I should be able to!
The clover is starting to take over….that’s easy enough to take care of.
I’m pretty sure this is Queen Anne’s Lace. I’ll have to keep an eye on it!
Of course, they’re not ready to eat yet! But they’re getting there…
These are from the neighbors tree and they don’t spray them, so they’re no good for humans to eat. But deer love them!!
Soon enough I will have raspberries! Yummy in ice cream…and with bananas and milk!
Just one of my many house plants.
It’s huge! Almost as tall as I am…I’m 5ft3.
If I were to add acidic soil to the base, it would probably turn a different color.
I keep forgetting to dump some coffee grounds when I dump them once a week or so. (Coffee grounds are acidic and plants that like acidic soil drink it up.)
I know, another rose! But the following pics are abstracts. Hope you like!
I personally like the one with the blue/purple bighlights the best!
So…I don’t know how long the internet will be down, I will do my best to post as often as I can! Probably, until then, I will post pictures taken with my phone.
Have a great day, what ever you choose to do!!
-that you cannot make some one love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
-that no matter how much I care, some people just don’t care back.
-that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.
(I have no idea whose auotes they are.)
And it’s only 930 in the morning!!
I’m working on a post…the house internet is down and my phone’s acting up. I will have a post at some point today!
Some old photos…
Ok, I promise I will have something (good!) for you later this afternoon!
June 3, 2019
This post is really about yesterday…it was a busy day, but I was (almost) totally relaxed. When we went to the store, a couple of drivers pulled out in front of me! Someone is watching out for me, because I wasn’t in any accidents – only close calls. I don’t know what it is with drivers today…thinking that if they pull out in front of someone will get them there faster. You’re going to the store, right? What’s the big rush? Even if you’re on your way to work, no reason to almost get in an accident! Anyway…we got through the store and back home safely!
That was the most stress I had all day!
Some pictures my boyfriend took. I think they’re interesting…
If you look closely, it looks like a teeny tiny cat peeking up from behind the tarp. We have no idea what it is!
You almost wouldn’t know that the rabbit is there if it weren’t for its glowing eye!
On to Sundays Pleasures…
This is probably the only “recent” picture of me you will see. So enjoy it while you can. My boyfriend took it from the porch, looking down on me and the pool. The pool is getting a little cleaner every day…I’ve stopped vacuuming it and only siphon it. The vacuum seems to only stir it up too much. I did get the pool clean before the storm, which wasn’t all that bad. Some thunder and lightning and rain…
The following pictures were taken after the storm…
Looks like a huge asparagus tip… this is the original plant that came from the old farmhouse when we moved. For the life of me, I can not dig it up so I can get all the junk (weeds) out of it. So it has to stay as it is, just clean it up every year.
Another flower a friend gave me…thank you!! Notice the rain drops?
I have trouble photographing this flower, it is so small!
This is a jimsonweed flower.
Not sure which one I like better…probably the top one, the bug seems more clear.
The bugs are starting to settle down now, which means I can get pictures of them… most of the time, anyway!
I like getting “soft” pictures of roses like this…especially the pink ones! It’s not totally in focus, but in focus enough to tell what it is. I guess it’s the artist in me coming out!
So, that’s the highlights of my day yesterday! For some, it would seem boring and a lot of hard work…but I really enjoy my life and what has been given me. I may not go to church on Sunday mornings, but I work so people can.
So, we start another work week and life goes on…hope everyone has a great day and an even better week!
