I just can’t do it

December 21, 2022

I haven’t put up one Christmas decoration or ornament this year.
I always had questions about Christmas, among other things. Including Easter.

With the holidays being here, remember it’s okay to say no without an explanation, and it’s okay to start your own traditions and not participate in the old ones…as long as you’re doing what makes you happy.

I will add…as long as you’re doing what you feel is right.

What is the Christmas spirit?

People say we need to get in the “Christmas spirit”, but where is that spirit mentioned in the Bible?

Now the spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.

How can I celebrate a holiday, celebrating Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) birth, when nowhere in the Bible it is mentioned? Yes, there are signs or clues…but chances are, he was born in the spring or possibly the fall. I believe there is a reason his birth isn’t factually mentioned. The date would have become more important than the man himself, dying on the cross.

So, why was his birthdate moved or put on December 25?

The reason for the season?

well, since you asked…

~ The early Romans celebrated the Saturnalia on the Solstice, honoring their god Saturn. Saturnalia consisted of days of feasting and gift exchanges.
~ The Iranian god Mithra was born of a virgin on December 25.
~ The winter solstice is the day with the shortest amount of sunlight, and the longest night. In the Northern Hemisphere, it falls on December 21st or 22nd.

The celebration of the Saturnalia was too popular
with the Roman pagans for the new Christian church to outlaw it,
so the new church renamed the day
and over time reassigned meanings to the traditions.

So, for me, I can’t celebrate Christmas traditionally. We will be eating some good food and exchanging a few gifts. My housemate and son understand what is going on…I think. We have been misled. As a whole, as a society.

I thank God every day for His son.

Truth is like surgery.
It hurts but it cures.
Lie is like a pain killer.
It gives instant relief
but has side effects forever.

What Does the Bible say About Christmas: Bible Study Ministry…this is a really good article to read, if you’re interested. For me, and the article does talk about this, Christmas, as well as other “religious” (Easter?) holidays are “a pagan practice, attempting to assemble itself into Christianity in the name of bringing people to Christ.  I certainly can applaud the effort and the thought process behind this method and psychology.” According to the Bible, celebrating such holidays/feastivals/festivals are offensive to God, our heavenly Father. How can I participate, traditionally, knowing He doesn’t approve?

What’s more important

truth

or

tradition?

Anyway, this is my decision. I will not belittle or chastise you for choosing to celebrate. Your personal decisions are on you, and between you and God. I am not the one to judge. I am only doing what is right for me.

“We began, biblically, with the birth of Christ,
however, we selected a pagan day to celebrate it on.”

Jeremiah 10: 1-4 (NKJV)
Hear the word which the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel.
Thus says the Lord:
“Do not learn the way of the Gentiles;
Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven,
For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.
For the customs of the peoples are futile;
For one cuts a tree from the forest,
The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.
They decorate it with silver and gold;
They fasten it with nails and hammers
So that it will not topple.

take care
stay safe
much love

Romans 13: 12 (NKJV)
The night is far spent, the day is at hand.
Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness,
and let us put on the armor of light.

  1. I would have to do some research to verify, but I believe December 25th was chosen by the church for a specific purpose. Being the Winter Solstice, December 21st used to be an important pagan holiday. It still is, but most people don’t see the evidence. The 25th was chosen to compete with this day, and nothing more. I think you’re right about the Spring birthday.

Either way, I like the December 25th date, and I love Christmas for a number of reasons.

I hope you feel better soon, Holly. I can definitely relate to waking up in pain. It’s very frustrating to lose mobility, even temporarily.

Merry Christmas and God Bless You & Yours!

    • Thank you! Every day is a little bit better, the worst part is still the mornings right after waking up. But within an hour or so I’m feeling better.

From what I understand, December 25 was chosen to convince pagans to convert. Of course, way back when people were persecuted/killed if they didn’t, or wer caught reading the Bible, but I won’t get into that. Not today anyway.

      Merry Christmas!
